Seventy-five percent of parents give their children an allowance. Kids get a weekly allowance for completing chores, or do they? Kids are always on the go and always need money. They ask for their allowance from that week, but do they really deserve it? Sixty-six percent of the seventy-four percent of parents that give their kid an allowance give it to them for reasons regarding chores. Have they really done anything to deserve it? Do you just give it to them because they want it? These are questions you must ask yourself before giving your kids their weekly allowance. An allowance isn't about giving kids extra money each week. It's about rewarding children for helping out their parents.

Parents give their kids money even though they don't do their chores. I don't think that is the right thing to do. On the other hand, some may disagree. Some parents say that their kids always need money anyway, so why not just give them money each week? Plus kids really hate doing chores, so why force them? Well I will tell you why you should force them. Trust me it's for their own good.

Giving children an allowance each week can give them financial responsibility. In real life, you need to have financial responsibility. Money is not just given to you. You must earn it. You must work hard too, you can't just expect to stand around doing nothing, and have people pay you to do that. You need to be responsible with the money that you make, and not to be foolish with it. In the real life, if you are foolish with the money that you have, then you will end up broke and in major debt. You will have to move back in with your parents and that is probably the only reason that you moved out in the first place. So it may seem early to learn how to be responsible with your money, but it won't hurt you if start as soon as you possible.

An allowance also is used for rewarding children for their good behavior. A cash sum will entice your kids to do the job, and to do it well. Seriously, who wouldn't want to do some simple chores around the house in turn for some cash in their pocket to do what they please with? Children will really appreciate being treated as someone who is important enough to have a small job. Although, you don't want to reward a child's bad behavior. If for that week, they don't complete the tasks that they have been assigned, then they should not get an allowance. If you fail to realize this and give them their allowance anyway, then that is teaching them bad habits. You are telling them that even though they did not do their jobs, they will still be rewarded. This will make them think that they can keep skipping out on doing their chores, but get paid anyway, and that is not how the real world works at all.

An allowance isn't all about money, money, money. It is also about actually completing the chores. Chores can help develop a clean person. If you do the chores for a long enough period of time, the habits will continue throughout his or her life. Not only will it help yourself, it will also help out your mom and dad. They will defiantly appreciate all the help. Doing chores for your parents is a great thing to do. Especially considering all that they do for you.

An allowance is a reward, so it should only be given to kids that fulfill their chores. The real world is much harder, but being responsible will prepare everyone for what is out there. An allowance encourages children to be more helpful in all that they do. An allowance is a good thing, only if used properly and only if given to the kids at the right time.
